I have always had a love of animals, It started as a young child following my mom to the barn. I was always underfoot of the horses. My mom purchased my first pony for me when I was 7, a very cranky Shetland pony whom I called "Princess" . Every time I mounted her, she threw me off, that way I would be sure to knew who was in charge.
I started showing at the age of 10 with my next pony a reg'd Arab/Welsh cross mare called Belle , next came my first purebred Arabian" Nazareth" bred by my mother, I was 13. I have shown Arabian Horses in halter & flat classes as well as in harness.
In
1991 I purchased my first purebred dog a Norwegian Elkhound named "Daggarwoods
Kyllen The Warrior" from Peggy Cameron. This was a breed which just
captured my attention & affection. I went to my first dog show later that
same year and I was hooked :-)
I embraced the world of purebred dogs, though my first few years in the show ring taught me how much I didn't know about dogs i stuck with it. I have been showing since 1991 and breed my first litter in 1994. I have had dogs of my own breeding whom I’ve shown to the #1 spot in the breed in Canada, as well as to Best in Show/ Best Puppy in Show & Best Brace In Show wins . I have shown many breeds to Canadian championships as well as many group 1sts and group placements.
I have served on the executive of the Dartmouth Kennel Club as Vice President & President, as Show Superintendent for the DKC's All Breed Shows. I have arranged educational seminars & sanction matches for our club. I am a member of the Canadian Kennel Club.
